We embed the EYFS in our practice in order to enhance, track and further each child’s development & learning. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the Government framework for education for children from birth to five, designed to grow and develop with your child to the end of the reception year at school. It places emphasis on learning through play, interaction and exploring the world, therefore it crucially underpins the design of our setting.

We also look closely at the Characteristics or Effective Learning which is studying and noticing how each individual child learns and becoming knowledgeable on how they learn best- this can then be used to implement how they can achieve new learning goals, challenges and development criteria with each child.

There are 3 characteristics of effective learning according to the EYFS 2017:

Playing and exploring – engagement

* Finding out and exploring

* Playing with what they know

* Being willing to have a go

Active learning – motivation

* Being involved and concentrating

* Keeping trying

* Enjoying achieving what they set out to do

Creating and thinking critically – thinking

* Having their own ideas

* Making links

* Choosing to do things

We respond to Special Educational Needs and works in conjunction with the SEND Code of Practice. Our Nursery supports SEND and liaises with appropriate external agencies to ensure all children’s needs are met effectively.

Through the range of purposeful play and challenging activities, our children are introduced to the full array of the EYFS areas, to develop appropriate skills through learning & play. Each child is encouraged to reach their highest potential, whilst developing the ability to become independent as well as play with others and make solid friendships with each other & good bonds with our staff.

Our thorough tracking and planning systems support each child through their interests, these are then used to plan and encourage achievement of independent goals within the EYFS. These are carefully thought out by staff and adapted to each individual, using their interests to enhance their willingness, enthusiasm and ability to learn and grow.

We are committed to offering children a healthy, nutritious and well-balanced diet which meets their individual needs and requirements, giving them plenty of energy for their busy days of learning and fun with us!!

Meals are prepared daily on site by our cook- whom we can assure you creates some delicious homemade foods!

Children are offered vegetarian, dairy/ gluten free or other alternatives where necessary. When you register with us, you will be asked about your child’s dietary requirements so that we can cater for everyone individually. We request that parents keep us up to date on allergies and restricted foods for their children.

Good nutrition and a balanced diet will help your child grow into a healthy and confident eater. Here at Amazing Grace Nursery, we know how important this is therefore we aim to assist this process by offering children the opportunity to try new foods and flavours, using plenty of positive encouragement!

We regularly review and discuss with the children which foods are their favourites and of course aim to provide the things they like best within our Healthy & Exciting Menu.

Our four weekly menus are available in our Nursery Entrance way for you to look at at any time you wish. We will also provide copies of these upon request. We will inform you of what your child has eaten each and every day during the collection hand-over, including how much they have eaten too.

All of our staff hold a Level 2 certificate in Food Hygiene.

At Amazing Grace Nursery, we hold a comprehensive set of policies to ensure that our nursery setting and service prioritises your child’s best interests and adhere to Ofsted requirements.

Our Policies and Procedures are available for parents to view at any time upon request. They are also assessed and reviewed yearly to ensure correct protocol is being followed (and any changes or new policies necessary between this time are implemented.) Staff are also confident with the policies and procedures present at Amazing Grace and regularly update their knowledge of them.

Every child deserves the best possible start in life, with the opportunity to develop in an environment that is both safe and secure.
